About this app
This tool calculates resistor combinations in series and parallel to achieve a desired resistance value. It uses standard E-series resistor values (E12, E24, E48, E96, E192) with their respective tolerances. You can select different combination types (single resistor, two in series, two in parallel) and see the best matches sorted by closeness to your target resistance.
Column explanations
- Combination: The description of the resistor(s) used, including their values and configuration.
- Nominal: The calculated resistance value of the combination.
- Error: The absolute difference between the nominal value and the target resistance.
- Error %: The percentage error relative to the target resistance.
- Worst-case %: The maximum possible tolerance band for the combination, considering all resistors at their extreme tolerances.
- RSS %: The root sum square (statistical) tolerance, providing a more realistic estimate of the combination's precision.
